Youth explained: "I got an overview from watching him treat people and things. He told me he got more business than the other place because he treated people differently and he treated them with respect and care. And I could see it, too. He's great with people."

"I showed her how to do the paperwork and filing and stuff like that. Business skills and then telephone skills. And I had her follow me around and observe, so she could do it on her own. Rather than ask questions, she could just see me in action. Because I think it was better being in action rather than just sitting her down and telling her everything."

"Last year I took one youth and this year I took another to expose them to that environment of 5,000 professional women. 'See what you can do!' I think both of them were just truly amazed by what they saw at that women's conference.... Afterwards one youth made a statement that she'd never seen this many professional women in one place before and how powerful an experience that was."

"Instead of me telling her, 'This is what a support associate does, this is what a clerical associate does,' I let her talk... [with] maybe a nurse, a support associate, a clerical associate, anybody that works in the unit. I schedule them to talk to everybody that works here."
