Explore Cornell has received recognition in numerous forms. The site has been featured by academic periodicals, web awards programs, and will appear in a forthcoming textbook on e-learning. A few are displayed below.
June 2003. The Chronicle featured Explore Cornell in an article that quoted Cornell scientists and a Harvard colleague. The Chronicle is published weekly and is the world's top news source for colleges and universities with a readership of over 450,000. (Subscription required to see article.)
March, April, and August 2003. Three Explore Cornell features have appeared in Science, the global weekly of research that serves an estimated 10 million people in 130 countries. Such coverage identifies Explore Cornell as an important source of quality content, and rewards contributing faculty with excellent exposure in a leading peer-reviewed publication.
June 2003. Explore Cornell is profiled in the Scout Report, an online publication sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the University of Wisconsin. It is one of the internet's longest-running weekly publications, offering a selection of "new and newly discovered online resources of interest to researchers and educators."
May 2003. Explore Cornell was featured by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), a national nonprofit organization of scientists and lawyers dedicated to protecting public health and the environment. NRDC.org says that its featured links "are chosen to reflect the best the web has to offer students and the rest of us on issues of environment, sustainability and related politics."
April 2002. CASE is the premier international association for educational advancement, with a membership of more than 3,000 schools and universities in 45 countries. Acting on its mission to support education, CASE sponsors several recognition programs, including awards that honor communications efforts in various media. The makers of Explore Cornell are pleased to see the site recognized as a promising tool for the advancement of Cornell University educational, research, and outreach programs.
April 2002. Selected from hundreds of entries, this national award recognizes individuals and companies who achieve the highest levels of quality and professionalism in garden communications.
The Garden Globe Award for Best Talent or Product honors the best horticultural authors and publishers, columnists, photographers,
graphic designers, illustrators, media personnel, and Web sites.
2001 - 2003. Explore Cornell has been honored several times on Apple Computer's QuickTime showcase. QuickTime technology is the choice of Web developers for top-quality multimedia productions,
including Hollywood movie trailers. Explore Cornell makes extensive use of QuickTime for video, audio, and virtual reality.
