Anoplophora horsfieldii (Hope)
12 of 14

Anoplophora horsfieldii (Hope) is one of the most majestic species of the genus. This longhorned beetle is native to India (Assam), China, and Taiwan. Its larvae bore into living trees of hackberry and chinaberry and are capable of killing trees over several generations. The male/female pair shown (female, left) is representative of numerous other color plates published in a monograph on the Asian genus Anoplophora by Steven W. Lingafelter (USDA) and E. Richard Hoebeke (Cornell).
